How much could your policy be worth in a few years time if it were index linked?

This month you may decide to take a Life Assurance policy of 100,000 to leave to your family should the worst happen. But in reality how much will that policy actually be worth with rises in inflation and the effects of the retail price index?

How much will your life assurance be worth in later life? With an ever changing economy it can be difficult to work out the real value of your policies, especially if its a few years since you first took your Life Assurance. Over the years, the real value of your payout reduces with inflation which means that what is worth 100,000 now, won't necessarily be worth the same in 10 years time.

A good solution to protect your cover from its falling value, is to take a policy which is 'index linked'. With index linked or increasing policies, the amount of your sum assured will increase on an annual basis to offset the effects of inflation and keep the real value of your policy.

The increases in the sum assured do not take any new medical conditions into account which means in essence, you are receiving more cover without the worry that a new condition may sky rocket the premiums! The only factor taken into account is the new inflation rate.

Using our calculators you'll be able to see what a policy you took in the past would be worth now with index linking and look ahead to the future and what your new policy could be worth.
